Pelvic Health
Pelvic health concerns are both common and often under-discussed. Symptoms such as bladder leakage, changes in bowel function, pelvic pain, a sensation of heaviness or pressure, or discomfort with intimacy can significantly impact quality of life and may feel isolating. Many individuals are unsure whether their experience is typical, or where to seek appropriate support.
Pelvic health extends beyond the pelvic floor muscles alone. It reflects the integrated function of the pelvis, spine, hips, abdominal wall, and respiratory system. These structures work together to support continence, movement, and overall comfort. When one component of this system is not functioning optimally, it can influence the whole.
Care is individualised and guided by your unique presentation and goals. Management may include osteopathic hands-on techniques, pelvic floor retraining, support with relaxation and coordination, and practical, evidence-informed strategies to improve function and confidence.

What to Expect
Our clinic offers a whole-person, patient-centred approach to pelvic health care. Initial consultations involve a comprehensive discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and goals, alongside an assessment of movement, posture, and musculoskeletal function.
Where clinically indicated, a pelvic floor assessment may be recommended. Internal assessment is always optional and is only performed with your informed consent, following a clear explanation of the process. A chaperone can be arranged at any time to support your comfort.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I attend an appointment while on my period?
Yes. Appointments can be conducted at any stage of your menstrual cycle. Internal assessments can still be performed, with appropriate adjustments made for comfort and hygiene. If you would prefer to reschedule due to heavier flow or personal preference, this is absolutely fine.
When can I attend after giving birth?
A postnatal assessment is generally recommended from six weeks postpartum. This allows time for initial tissue healing and supports a more comfortable and effective evaluation.
Can I have pelvic health treatment during pregnancy?
Pelvic health assessments are typically most appropriate before or after pregnancy. If you are currently pregnant and experiencing symptoms, please contact the clinic to discuss suitable care options tailored to your stage of pregnancy.
Pelvic health concerns can feel overwhelming; however, with appropriate assessment and targeted support, meaningful improvement is achievable.
